About Pat

Pats paintings are originated by relying solely on her sensitivity to the subject, bringing in her imagination to communicate how she feels and sees.
Pat has come to realise it s very difficult for others to understand. No two people see or feel the same about a scene or situation.
Therefore you should try to look at her work from her point of view.
This then enables you to interpret the picture, using your own imagination.
Pat tries to help her work along by giving the abstract images a title.
Most of the time she has to have a purpose to paint at all, and this is usually to communicate something especially important to her.
Pat like’s to have a Reason for painting, thus the title.
Abstract to her mind is inviting complete Joy in the colours and shapes, and this she doe to relax and excite her understanding of the subject.
Music is the most abstract form of art, and invites the listener to imagine scenes and feelings. Pat occasionally enjoys interpreting her sensitivity to a piece.
…Born and educated in Johannesburg, of British parents, Pat studied art at Witwatersrand, South Africa and Bhyam Shaw School, London and worked at Twickenhan College under Osmond Caine.
Pat’s formative years were spent in South Africa and her early paintings, significantly influenced by apartheid, portrayed two different facets of those turbulent times.
Pat moved back to her roots in England in 1960. In 1963 she exhibited the Aesthetic Concept of South Africa at Richmond Hill Gallery and since then has presented thirty-five successful one man shows in various parts of the world, including six in London.
She has also had show stands in International Contemporary Art Fairs in both New York and London.
Her work can be seen in permanent collections in Canada, Germany, America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
